For 38 years, Mrs. Betsey Johnson has been the heart and backbone of Steele Insurance Agency. Her loyalty, knowledge, and genuine love for helping others have made her an irreplaceable part of our agency family.

As a licensed Property and Casualty agent, office manager, and everyone’s trusted “go-to” person, Betsey has a gift for making things happen. Whether she is answering an insurance question, solving a problem, supporting a coworker, or helping a customer through a difficult situation, she handles it with experience, compassion, and care. Simply put, our agency would not be where it is today without her.

In 2024, Betsey was named Customer Service Agent of the Year for Erie Insurance’s Roanoke Branch—an honor that reflects the exceptional service she has provided throughout her career. To Betsey, customers are never just policy numbers. She takes the time to know them, understand their needs, and build relationships that often last for generations.

A lifelong member of our community, Betsey seems to know just about everyone—and if she does not know you yet, she will make you feel like she has known you forever.

Outside the office, Betsey’s greatest joy is her family. She is married to her husband, Charlie, and is a proud mother to their son, Austin. Her grandson, Ben, holds an especially large place in her heart, and their treasured time together is always a highlight of her week.

Betsey also has a love for flowers, especially sunflowers, which perfectly reflect her warm and cheerful spirit. She brings that same brightness wherever she goes, along with a little bit of fire, plenty of wisdom, and a heart full of kindness.
